+1 organizational post
Hi Fablelanders!
I'm really hoping I'm not stepping on toes with this but it came up on plurk and making a post seems the best way to get thoughts organized. So, the game's a little slow, I think we've all noticed, and I think we'd all like to do something to give it a little kickstart. We've got a bunch of characters who seem to be the sort that are Get Up And Do Things people, which means that we should have them get up and do things. Of course there's going to be an upcoming December update but in the meantime:
So, uh, thoughts are welcome, no idea is too crazy, let's make some things happen!!

→ organizing some sort of a town meeting! Rose has volunteered Kamala (
morphogenia) to actually set something up for characters, but the reality of things is that it might need to be OOCly discussed more than ICly played out, just given time zones and all that jazz. But basically, making sure everyone knows everyone else (so characters who haven't met in a thread can handwave meeting here if necessary) and for characters to figure out who knows what/does what in terms of survival skills. So please feel free to chime in below with what your character might have to offer and/or thoughts on getting characters to meet and such.
→ exploring the sleep mechanic thing (meaning the thing where, no matter where characters fall asleep, they're transported back to the cabins mentioned in the November update) and starting to really explore the island. To that end I'm planning on having Bucky post in the next few days with attempts to get increasingly further away from the central cabins in doing some basic exploration. He'll be documenting his attempts (if we can call it that) via the mirror shard, and characters are of course welcome to join him or just chime in via the mirror; I'm planning to have it be several instances of attempts over a couple of days so there's plenty of opportunity for people to interact however they wish. I'm hoping it'll help open up the basic lay of the land for people as well as the limitation of the sleep thing and maybe spark some discussion between characters on what could have brought them here/what is keeping them here.

Lets see... I'm definitely okay with handwaving any introductions here. Keith has been around for long enough that, given how little of us there are, he'd probably have spoken at least once with everybody. He isn't exactly a social person, so it's possible that some people didn't get a great first impression, but I assure you his heart is in the right place. Also, he will be intrigued by the number of people with robotic arms around here.
As for his skills... Keith spent a good chunk of his life alone. He knows how to survive, and during the time he spent with his mother in a situation where hunting and surviving with what nature gave you was necessary, he learned a bunch more stuff from her on how to do just that. So yeah, he can hunt and he knows the basics of survival all around (shelter-building, fire making, improv-weapons, very basic injury treatment, etc etc). He only has one dagger, but back when he was with his mom, that's all he had too, so he can make do.
I can see him helping with hunting and exploration, as well as fighting. Keith is not a tank by any means, but what he lacks in brute force he more than makes up for in speed and sheer persistence. He will keep getting up until he passes out, which can be a good or a bad thing, depending. He's very stabby stabby, his dagger fighting style might be unorthodox (he is ambidextrous and he likes to... throw his sword at enemies sometimes like some sort of blunt object) and his methods unpredictable, but he will do what he can to get the job done and keep people safe while doing it.
He definitely doesn't want to lead so he will gladly pass the baton on that. He might take the lead of a smaller group, but he really doesn't want to be anything close to the "village's chief". He will say so if he doesn't agree with orders given, however, and he won't follow them if he is against them.
Overall though, if things make sense to him, he will be okay with helping in any way he can (hunting, guard-duty, exploring, figuring out what's happening), though his top priority (currently) will always be his friends, their safety and the urgent need to get back to where they were taken from.

I could see these two actually getting together to trade fighting tips. Bucky's style with daggers is certainly more trained but there's always something to be learned. Possibly after they start organizing themselves as a town? And get a little more organized in general. But yes knife things will definitely be happening.
I also love that Keith has real survival skills. I'm sure some of it's in Bucky's wheelhouse too but I feel like he's somewhat unreliable due to all the enhancements and I feel like Keith would be more with keeping it real and realistic for the people we have here, so I'm really looking forward to an aftermath of the town meeting sort of thing!

I can see them trading fighting tips for sure. ... Perhaps not training, for now, because... well, VLD spoilers, so I won't get into it, but trading fighting tips would be really cool, even if the knives Bucky uses are smaller than Keith's dagger. He'll think Bucky's knife trick is really damn cool, though. Because, I mean, it is. So they can share the coolness. But yeah, I can definitely see it, once things are more under way.
He does have a ton of survival skills (including cooking to a not-restaurant-level but pretty edible/okay one)! It's good that he isn't the only one to have them, too. As for keeping it real and realistic... You bet. Keith does do that and he doesn't beat around the bush/might actually be a little too direct sometimes, which some people might not like, but it's just how he is. I do think he will have no problems with Bucky, though! It will be neat!
